COSCO SHIPPING Ports Co., Ltd. and Hamburg Ports and Logistics AG (HHLA) announced on the 21st that they have signed an agreement for COSCO SHIPPING Ports to acquire a 35% stake in the Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT Terminal) of Hamburg Port in Germany.
COSCO SHIPPING Ports Co., Ltd. is the world’s leading port operator. Its terminal portfolio covers the five major port clusters along the coast of China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, South America and the Mediterranean. The Port of Hamburg is the largest port in Germany and one of the most important hubs for European trade with China. It has abundant rear collection and distribution facilities and is also an important European node for the China-Europe Railway.
According to reports, as one of the largest port companies and integrated logistics providers in Europe, Hamburg Ports and Logistics Co., Ltd., its three container terminals in the Port of Hamburg, have attracted the world’s three largest shipping companies due to their superior geographical conditions and efficient operation and management capabilities. The alliance’s routes call here and have maintained stable performance growth over the years.
Zhang Dayu, managing director of COSCO SHIPPING Ports, said on the same day that the Hamburg CTT terminal is an important node of European logistics. It is blessed with natural conditions such as location and water depth, has a vast hinterland, and has a vast future prospect and great development potential. “We hope that this investment can strengthen the cooperative relationship with Hamburg Port and Logistics AG, complement each other’s advantages, and provide customers with higher quality services.”
